FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

We know that visiting a new church can bring up many questions. Whether you’re curious about what to wear or how we handle communion, we’ve gathered some of the most common answers here to help you feel at home.

WHAT TIME IS THE SERVICE?

Our weekly Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30 AM in the main sanctuary.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

There is parking available in our church lot adjacent to the building on South Beeson Boulevard, as well as street parking and nearby public lots. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to find a spot and get settled.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

At Asbury, you will see a mix of everything. Some members prefer their "Sunday best" (suits and dresses), while others feel more comfortable in jeans and casual shirts. We care more about you being here than what you’re wearing—so come as you are!

WHAT IS COMMUNION LIKE?

In the United Methodist Church, we practice an Open Table. This means you do not need to be a member of our church or any church to receive Communion. All who love Christ, earnestly repent of their sin, and seek to live in peace with one another are invited to participate. We typically celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month.

WHERE DO MY CHILDREN GO?

Children are always welcome in the sanctuary! We offer a Children's Sermon during the service. Afterward, children are invited to attend Children’s Church for age-appropriate lessons and activities, or they are welcome to remain in the pews with their families.

IS THE BUILDING ACCESSIBLE?

Yes. We are committed to making our historic building accessible to everyone. We have designated accessible parking, ramp access, and an elevator to help you navigate our various levels. If you need specific assistance, our ushers are always happy to help.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED OR VOLUNTEER?

The best way to start is by speaking with a pastor after the service or calling the church office at (724) 437-7525. You can also check out our "Serve With Us" or "Outreach" sections for current opportunities.

DO I HAVE TO BE A METHODIST TO ATTEND?

Not at all! Our doors are open to everyone. Many of our members come from different denominational backgrounds or are exploring faith for the first time. We welcome your questions and your presence.
